Syracuse, N.Y. — A man is in critical condition after an apparent suicide attempt after he jumped from the Thompson Road bridge over Interstate 690 Saturday afternoon, according to Syracuse police.
Syracuse police and firefighters responded to the service road to I-690 West at 2:18 p.m. after reports that a man had jumped from the bridge, police said in a news release Saturday night.
When they arrived, they found a man in his 20s unconscious on the service road, police said.
The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition, they said.
Police shut down Exit 16 for about two hours, according to an alert from the state Department of Transportation.
